AmericaFest 2014 open to public June 29 Published May 13, 2014 18 Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Kadena Air Base will open its gates to the base population and local community June 29 for AmericaFest 2014. AmericaFest is an event designed to promote friendship and understanding between members of the local community and Americans assigned to Kadena Air Base. Visitors will be able to see static aircraft displays representing the U.S. military. Visitors will also be able to interact with military personnel from all four services, listen to musical performances and sample a wide variety of foods. "We are very excited to host AmericaFest this year," said Brig. Gen. James Hecker, 18th Wing commander. "We look forward to visiting with our friends and neighbors in Okinawa as well as those from throughout Japan."
