Volunteers needed for 2014 AmericaFest Published June 3, 2014 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- The 2014 AmericaFest celebration, which is scheduled for June 28 and 29, is in need of approximately 515 volunteers to sign up by June 6 in support of the event. Many jobs are still available from setup and tear down to security forces augmentation. "If enough volunteers don't show up, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to pull off the event," said 2nd Lt. Brent White, 718th Civil Engineer Squadron project programmer and AmericaFest executive officer. The event is designed to promote friendship and understanding between members of the local community and Americans assigned here. Visitors will also be able to interact with military personnel from all four services, listen to musical performances and sample a wide variety of foods. To volunteer for the event, service members should contact their unit AmericaFest representative. If the individual doesn't know who their unit representative is, they can contact White at brent.white.3@us.af.mil for more information.
