Nations unite for humanitarian mission
Senior Airman Andrew Ammerman, an Air Terminal Operations Center controller with the 733rd Air Mobility Squadron, Sgt. Derek Long, a loadmaster with the Royal Australian Air Force and Capt. Hirofumi Shimoda, the chief of Public Affairs with the 15 Brigade, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, greet each other after a Royal Australian Aircraft landed at Kadena March 16. The Aircraft came to Kadena to load supplies and a team from the JGSDF and then transport them to northern Japan in support of earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. “We couldn’t say no to the opportunity to help our allies when faced with such a terrible tragedy,” said Wing Commander Sonja Hallorran, RAAF.
