RED HORSE visits elder's home during holidays

Detachment 1, 554th RED HORSE Squadron has been partnering with Ichijoen from July to December after the Erwin Professional Military Education Center’s Class 12-5 hosted a volunteer project at Ichijoen. Two members from Det. 1 continued their relationship with the elder’s home. The squadron visits the home once a month to perform grounds work around the facility, interact with the residents, and provide donations when needed. Det. 1 recently partnered with the Youth Center and coordinated a holiday celebration with the residents, in which they performed Christmas songs for the residents. "The elders were happy to see the Youth Center children sing Christmas songs and dance,” said Yoko Sakiyama, the director of Ichijoen Elder’s Home. The squadron donated tissues, hand towels and lotion to the home. “I was impressed to hear about the volunteer spirit that Americans have. We thank the Youth Center and RED HORSE volunteers for visiting our elders during this busy holiday season." (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Brian Dieckmann)
