Domestic violence affects thousands

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Bethony Smith, 18th Aerospace Medicine Squadron public health technician, has make-up applied to resemble a bruise and cut on her eyebrow for the Domestic Violence Awareness campaign on Kadena Air Base, Japan, Oct. 9, 2012. Smith kept the faux wound on all day as she did her daily routine in support of the "Thanks for asking" campaign. The two goals for the campaign are to enhance awareness of the available services for domestic violence and encourage people to speak up. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Malia Jenkins)
