David Knight from Kadena Elementary School received the Angel Award Winner in the civilian employee category during the 2012 Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony at the Rocker NCO Club April 17, 2012, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. Knight has volunteered more than 600 hours as the director of Kadena’s Wired Bean working with 5,400 dorm residents. He also led airmen in various service projects including landscaping at a local school and supporting chapel marriage and family events. He has volunteered at least five hours every day since the September 2011 opening of the facility for unaccompanied Airmen and ensuring that they had an alcohol-free alternative.
