Contracting squadron ‘opens up’ for bidding

Lt. Col. Phillip Hendrix, 18th Contracting Squadron commander, welcomes local contractors during a Kadena Air Base orientation seminar in Urasoe Oct. 21. Last fiscal year, Kadena awarded more than $240 million in various construction projects on base. The two-part seminar, which wraps up at the end of this month, aims to familiarize Okinawan firms with the base's contracting processes to give them a better shot at winning contracts and improving the local economy.
