Kadena engineers pave foundation for higher learning

Airman 1st Class Christopher Webster, 18th Civil Engineer Squadron, lays cinder blocks along with a Filipino servicemember as they build an elementary school complex in Northern Luzon, Philippines during Balikatan 2010. Nearly 30 Kadena civil engineers deployed to the Philippines this spring to build two classrooms for the school badly damaged by severe weather. Altogether, U.S. military forces spent $325,000 to build a new healthcare center, build and refurbish old schools and continue construction of a flood wall in the country. (Courtesy photo)
