Largest AAFES store in Pacific opens doors to community

Hundreds of customers browse the Power Zone section of Kadena's new base exchange shortly after the grand opening ceremony Oct. 2. The new 344,000 square foot exchange is the largest Army and Air Force Exchange Service shopping center in the Pacific and second largest in the world. Shuttle buses will run from Four Diamonds baseball field parking lot and Ryukyu Middle School every hour on the hour and return from the shopping center every hour on the half hour until 9:30 p.m. Oct. 2. Shuttles will start again at 9 a.m. Oct. 3 and 4, and will run the same route in addition to the Kadena medical clinic parking lot. (U.S. Air Force/Staff Sgt. Jason Lake)
