Largest AAFES store in Pacific opens doors to community

Senior military and Army and Air Force Exchange Service officials, including Army Maj. Gen. Keith Thurgood, AAFES commander, and Brig. Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander, mark the grand opening of Kadena's new shopping center Oct. 2. The crowds were also treated to Shi Shi Dog and Taiko drummer performances during the opening ceremony. Hundreds of customers lined up before the grand opening for a chance to be the first customers at the largest base exchange complex in the Pacific and second largest in the world.
