Kadena joins military installations in signing emergency evacuation plans

U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. James Hecker, 18th Wing commander, and Masahau Noguni, mayor of Chatan City, shake hands after signing an official agreement which conveys an evacuation route Okinawan resident will utilize during a tsunami strike or in the event of a natural disaster on Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 3, 2014. As a part of the agreement, the United States Air Force will provide a route that runs through Kadena Air Base to Okinawa City where higher ground is located due to much of Chatan City lying in a low coastal area, with limited options to moving residents to the safety of higher ground.
