U.S. Air Force Personnel Clean a Local Komatsu Park

Volunteers from the U.S. Air Force, Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Kinki-Chubu Defense Bureau pulled weeds and dead grass in an effort to clean up a park in Komatsu, Japan, Nov. 15, 2014. The volunteers used their day off to give back to the community by pulling weeds, picking up trash, raking leaves, sweeping sidewalks and cleaning gutters in a local park. The 35th Fighter Wing from Misawa Air Base, Japan was at Komatsu Air Base for an Aviation Training Relocation Program. The 212th Rescue Squadron from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska and the 33rd RQS from Kadena Air Base, Japan were at Komatsu Air Base for exercise Keen Sword. The joint training conducted during exercise Keen Sword and in the ATR developed bilateral working relationships and allowed for the practice and evaluation of coordination procedures and interoperability elements required to respond to the defense of Japan, or to a regional crisis.
