U.S. Air Force Personnel Clean a Local Komatsu Park

Volunteers from the U.S. Air Force and Japan Air Self-Defense Force clean leaves out of gutters at a local park in Komatsu, Japan, Nov. 15, 2014. The volunteers teamed up members from the Kinki-Chubu Defense Bureau and pulled weeds, picked up trash, raked leaves and swept the sidewalk in an effort to clean up the park. The 35th Fighter Wing from Misawa Air Base, Japan was at Komatsu Air Base for an Aviation Training Relocation Program. The 212th Rescue Squadron from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska and the 33rd RQS from Kadena Air Base, Japan were at Komatsu Air Base for exercise Keen Sword. The joint training conducted during exercise Keen Sword and in the ATR developed bilateral working relationships and allowed for the practice and evaluation of coordination procedures and interoperability elements required to respond to the defense of Japan, or to a regional crisis.
