Tomb cleanup at 18MUNS in preparation for Shimi
An untouched tomb slated to be cleaned at Kadena Air Base, Japan, March 24, 2023. The overgrown vegetation is cleared with care so no damage is done to the tombs in preparation for Shimi, an Okinawan custom to show appreciation to one’s ancestors once a year at the beginning of April.
