The band traveled and played at Kabanomachi Elementary in the aftermath of a tsunami that struck the eastern coast of Japan on March 11, 2011, causing 19,759 deaths and severe damage. The U.S. Air Force participated in a U.S. Department of Defense humanitarian mission known as “Operation Tomodachi” to provide aid and support to Japanese partners and neighbors.
