Child Development Centers (CDC)

Three child development facilities on Kadena serving children of active-duty military members and Department of Defense civilians. All three child development centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC Accreditation meets the highest quality of Early Childhood Programs Standards and Accreditation Criteria.


There are a variety of programs offered to meet the needs of families on Kadena. Full-Time Care is available Monday through Friday from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hourly care is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call the Resource & Referral office at 632-7693 for availability and to reserve a spot. Part Day Enrichment is a program geared for 3-5 year olds. Children come to the center for 2 ½ hours 5 times a week for AM or PM sessions. All fees and charges are calculated using a sliding scale based on total family income.


The child development centers accept children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.


Information needed to enroll:

· DD FORM 2606

· Copy of orders with child's name on the orders

· Verification of employment or college

· DD FORM 1172 (DEERS enrollment) or command sponsorship letter

There is a waiting list for child care, but the wait times vary depending on the time of year and age of the child. The Resource and Referral Coordinator (DSN 315-632-7693) can provide child care availability information if provided your specific information.
