KADENA AIR BASE, Japan --

During this holiday season, I would like to say thank you to every member of Team Kadena for the sacrifices and dedication to the mission you show each day for our country and our alliance with Japan. Your brave actions show our continued commitment to peace and stability in the Pacific.  I want to say a special thanks to our spouses and families who make every bit of that possible through your love and support for those actively serving.  We couldn’t do what we do without you.

I am very impressed by the collective strength and close-knit nature of our Team Kadena community. As we celebrate this holiday season, please remember to look out for each other.  The holidays can be a time where problems seem worse for some and many of our service members may be spending this season away from their families for the first time.  Leaders and front-line supervisors can make a big difference there but we all have a responsibility to look out for our fellow service members.

While the holidays are a time of social activities and celebrations with family and friends, there is also an increased risk of accidents and injuries. If you decide to drink alcohol, do so responsibly.  Know and abide by the current Liberty Restrictions in place. Have a plan and the number of a taxi on hand.  Do not take the risk of getting behind the wheel after drinking - Not One Drop if you’re Driving!

It is my sincere hope you make the most of this time of the year, and that you celebrate the holidays responsibly and safely. You can be extremely proud of all that you’ve accomplished this year.  I cannot tell you enough how proud I am to serve here on Okinawa with all of you.  All the best wishes from my family to yours! Happy Holidays!
