All students planning to attend Department of Defense Dependents Schools in the Okinawa District are required to register for school year 2010-2011. This process enables the district to project student enrollment for the upcoming school year and maintain current student information.

School and bus registration will take place during spring recess, Tuesday-Friday, April 13-16, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at two convenient locations, Kadena Middle School and Lester Middle School.

Students who currently attend school at Kadena Air Base will register at Kadena Middle School. Students who currently attend Lester Middle School, Kubasaki High School, EC Killin, Bechtel, Kinser or Zukeran Elementary Schools will register at Lester Middle School. The schools will have registration and transportation stations staged at these two locations. Parents will register at the school station where their child currently attends even if the child will transfer to another school for 2010-2011.

Parents who are unable to participate in the spring recess registration process may also choose to register at their home school office after the break. Families arriving to Okinawa after spring break will also need to register their children at the appropriate school(s) as soon as they arrive.

Sponsors will be asked to revalidate current information, including current address, telephone numbers and emergency contacts. If quarters have changed, parents are required to bring current on-base housing assignment letter or off-base lease agreement with a map to quarters.

Active duty sponsors must bring a copy of extension orders if orders will expire before Aug. 31, 2010. Civilian sponsors must bring current certificate of employment letter to verify full-time employment or renewal agreement travel orders.

Kindergarten registration will be available for children who will turn five by September 1, 2010. New students that register will need sponsor orders/extension or verification of employment, birth certificate or passport, social security number, immunization records, and a copy of current housing assignment letter/off-base housing lease.

Sure Start applications will be available for students who will turn four by September 1, 2010.
