The 2013 Extreme Fitness Challenge, which kicked off Jan. 7 on Kadena Air Base, Japan, came to a close April 1. The fitness challenge consisted of two categories, individual and teams. Participants competed against each other as they fought to earn points throughout the challenges. "The challenges aimed to educate Status of Forces Agreement personnel about healthier eating habits, staying in shape and losing weight in the process," said Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Randolph18th Aersopace Medicine Squadron NCO in charge of the health and wellness center. Over the course of the competition, people participated in 10 educational courses and various intense workouts that not only affected them physically, but mentally as well. "(Participants lost) weight the right way and learned how to have healthier eating habits," said Randolph. Out of 133 people who signed up for the event, 111 completed the challenge. "Thanks to all the volunteers, Camp Foster, Risner gym, Valerie Seitz and the participants who took part in the event," Randolph added. The 2013 Extreme Fitness Challenge winners are: Top Male: Tech. Leonard Johnson, 18th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Total weight loss: 34 pounds and five inches off his waist Total points: 264 Top Female: Sheree Seamone Total weight loss: 21 pounds and three inches off her waist Total points: 302 Top Group: KRD 3 (Shannon Hodgson, Sam Thompson, Cristina Gringras) Total weight loss: 22 pounds and eight inches off their waists (total) Total points: 625
