Kadena Airman dies following motorcycle accident Published Jan. 22, 2013 By 18th Wing Public Affairs 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- An Airman assigned to Kadena died after being involved in a motorcycle accident Jan. 19 on Highway 58 near Kadena Air Base. Staff Sgt. Glenn Bearson, 18th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, was taken to nearby Nakagami Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. "We lost a valued, respected and beloved member of our military family this weekend," said Lt. Col. John Tran, 18th Equipment Maintenance Squadron commander. "This is a tragic loss not just for our squadron, but for Team Kadena as well. Our most sincere and heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and friends." The cause of the accident is under investigation. A memorial service in Bearson's honor is scheduled for Jan. 25 at 9 a.m. at Chapel One.
