Barrier Airmen re-bolt BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting systems
Members from the 18th Civil Engineer Squadron work to remove and clean sheave rollers prior to reinstalling a BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting System on the flightline of Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 7, 2014. Performed every 36 months, the maintenance is done to ensure smooth exit of the nylon tapes and avoid damages when aircraft come in to land during in-flight emergencies. Barrier Airmen re-bolt BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting systems
Members from the 18th Civil Engineer Squadron work to remove and clean sheave rollers prior to reinstalling a BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting System on the flightline of Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 7, 2014. The BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting System uses nylon tape that absorbs the energy when the tail hook of an aircraft engages the barrier safely helping to stop the aircraft during its landing. Civilian members of the 18th Security Forces Squadron take a Traffic Accident Response Procedure class during a monthly training session on Kadena Air Base, Japan, March 31, 2014. The 18th SFS conducted this class for the first time for civilian guards and patrolmen. This class, held in Japanese, ensures civilian guards and patrolmen will be able to respond quickly and perform as an interpreter if Japanese citizens are involved in traffic accidents off-base. Kadena Top 3, KMS give a ton back to community
Kadena Top 3 Okinawa Outreach representatives visited a welfare association March 7 to donate food and supplies for local families in need. Okinawa Outreach began requesting donations from the Kadena community in November, and received 2,000 pounds of donations. Kadena Middle School aided the effort through a school-wide food drive, resulting in a donation of 1,167 items. (Courtesy photo)
