18th MUNS helps locals celebrate Shimi

Okinawans work to clean the exterior of their family tomb in preparation for Shimi on Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 6, 2014. Shimi is an annual celebration on Okinawa, during which family tombs and the surrounding areas are cleaned before extended family members gather to pray and offer food to their deceased loved ones. More than 400 locals visited the base this year to pray, eat and enjoy each other’s company. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Zade C. Vadnais)
