Sudan 'Lost Boy' serves as Kadena NCO
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Madut Bul, 33rd Helicopter Maintenance Unit supply specialist, was labeled a 'Lost Boy' by the United Nations as a teenager. A Sudan native, Bul trekked more than 1,000 miles by foot along with roughly 30,000 other children in the early 1990s to escape the destruction and mayhem of civil war. Despite witnessing horrors most can't imagine, Bul joined the U.S. Air Force approximately eight years ago, and now uses his story to be an inspiration and testament to resilience.
