School Age Program

The School Age Program also offers affordable, quality care during out-of-school time to facilitate youth development for children 5-12 years old from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Two facilities on Kadena have a capacity of 372 spaces. This program is accredited by the National Afterschool Association to meet the highest standards of care. The fees are calculated using a sliding scale based on total family income. The Resource and Referral Coordinator can assist if you are interested in this program.

Another option is child care centers off base. At least three cater to American clients. The average cost is about $100-$200 per week, per child. Expect to pay more for Montessori schools or day care centers that offer an educational curriculum.

Check the Kadena Force Support website for the current version of youth supervision guidlines impacting Kadena to assist you in determining the extent of child supervision required.
