The 18th Medical Group, the Air Force's largest freestanding ambulatory clinic in terms of assigned members, provides extensive medical, dental and support services to Kadena and other Department of Defense members on Okinawa. More than 70 medical and dental providers care for hundreds patients each day. Services include family practice, pediatrics, gynecology, optometry, mental health (including adult and child psychiatry) and physiological training.
The 18th Medical Support Squadron (MDSS) provides diagnostics, therapeutic, logistical, technological, administrative, managed care and readiness planning for more than 500 staff and 15,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, the 18th MDSS serves as INDO-PACOM's Theater Lead Agent for Medical Materiel and trains and supports Medical Group UTCs and War Reserve Materiel projects.
The 18th Aerospace Medicine Squadron delivers aerospace medicine services to enhance human performance and minimize loss from disease and non-battle injuries. The squadron provides expertise in physiology training, bioenvironmental engineering, public health, flight medicine, health and wellness activities, medical readiness, optometric care, entomology and aeromedical movements.
The 18th Medical Operations Squadron (MDOS) provides family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, allergy, immunizations, pediatrics, ambulance services, critical care air transport team and comprehensive counseling services. 18th MDOS members also staff the only DoD neonatal intensive care unit in the Pacific region at Naval Hospital Okinawa on Camp Foster.
