On-Post Inventory

  • Published
Island-wide we have two types of on-post homes: “mandatory assignment” and “offered but not mandatory”.  Mandatory homes have received a high building condition index score and are usually the newest homes across the island.  These homes make up about 86% of currently available homes.  If there are mandatory homes available in your grade (rank) and entitlement (bedrooms), you will be assigned to these homes.  If there are no mandatory homes available, you will then be given the option to accept an “offered but not mandatory” home.  These homes have a good building condition index score, but are showing some signs of age.  These homes are often our most sought after units and it is rare for them to be declined. A large portion of our single-family homes are in this category.  If you choose to decline an “offered but not mandatory” home, you are then referred to live off-post.  The counselor will inform you of your options during in-person meetings at the Department of Defense Military Family Housing Office.
